Nearly Wordless Wednesday

If it’s Wednesday, it must be Nearly Wordless Wednesday.

I’m so excited that the Nurture Photography Challenge is back!

Just like in the fall, Kristi and Rebecca are hosting this awesome and inspiring challenge with weekly themes.

I loved the one in the fall. Seeing how other people interpret the theme gave me the motivation and inspiration to see things differently and shoot things in a new way.

The theme this week is black. Low light photography is something I’ve been practicing for a little while. I think high key (bright and shiny) images are great. But I feel that they’re a bit safe. I think in low light photography, there’s less room for error. The perfectionist in me gets really excited about having that tiny margin of goodness. I notice the light more when there is less of it. Is that weird? Maybe. But I never claimed to not be weird.

I’m learning more about black and white conversion too. Maintaining the contrast without losing any detail in the highlights or shadows is a tricky skill. But I will conquer it! For the challenge this week, I pulled out my heck of a marco lens and got to work.

I love macro photography.
