Winter Bucket List
I was wondering the other day why summer bucket lists are so prevalent in the blogging world, but not winter bucket lists. It seems to me that the need for a list of stuff to do with your family is more needed when you can’t just push them out the door and order them to stay out until sunset. Plus sunset in the winter is like 4:30 in the afternoon so what good is that? Not that I’m complaining. I love the dark of the winter.
I asked on twitter what some folks like to do in the winter so I could make a winter bucket list. I got a ton of great ideas and Carrie Anne (who is awesome and hilarious- she announced the gender of her expectant baby with a unicorn mug! She rules) even put together an awesome winter bucket list.
Obviously my list will be different from things that you do with your family. Watching Christmas Vacation and Elf for instance. We watch a butt ton of holiday movies. But those two are stay hard classics in the unhip household. I did forget to add drink eggnog to the list but I feel that doesn’t need to be added. Every year I drink my weight in eggnog. Maybe this year, I’ll manage to keep some around long enough to actually bake with it. Doubtful.
We donate to various organizations throughout the year but this is the first year I think Lex and Thalia will be able to really get it. I’ll be taking them with me to get toys for Toys for Tots (which I’ve been a supporter of since I was 16). I hope it doesn’t dissolve in tears and meltdowns. They’re always good about donating their used toys once they stop playing with them but going to the store to pick out something to donate will be a new experience for them.
Here’s my list of stuff to keep you busy from the solstice to the equinox!
